Orange County, CA · Custom software & SaaS studio
Custom Software Development for Orange County. One Senior Operator. Your Repo, Your IP.
Kingbird Solutions is a US-led custom software development studio working with Orange County founders and SMB operators. We build AI-native applications and SaaS products, rescue stalled projects, and integrate complex systems.
One named senior operator runs every engagement from kickoff through handoff, with engineering matched to your stack and budget. When the engagement ends, the code is in your repo, the runbook is written, and you own everything.
What we build
Custom app development
New SaaS builds, MVPs, and internal tools. Fixed-scope sprints when the work is crisp. Managed retainers when the roadmap is long.
AI integrations and agentic workflows
LLM-powered features, retrieval-augmented answers, and agentic automations built into your product architecture. AI-native from day one.
Systems integration
Connect your CRM, billing, support, and operations stack into one working system. Zapier-plus, with engineering behind it.
Stalled project recovery
Your developer left or the agency failed to deliver. We inherit the repo, read what's broken, and ship. The Stabilization Review tells you what it costs.
How Orange County projects usually arrive
Four shapes cover almost every engagement. Most conversations start in one of them and the fit call sorts out which.
You are building a SaaS product
Multi-tenancy, roles, billing state, and the deploy pipeline get decided in the first sprint, not discovered in month six. You get a running product and a repo your next engineer can read.
How engagements run →You need the architecture settled first
Data model, service boundaries, integration design, and the build-versus-buy calls, written down before anyone commits budget. Works as a standalone engagement when you already have developers.
Start with a diagnostic →You want the numbers in one place
Operating dashboards that pull from the systems you already run, so the decisions your team makes weekly stop depending on someone rebuilding a spreadsheet.
See operating dashboards →Someone else started it and left
We inherit the repo, find what is actually broken, and give you a written 30/60/90 before we touch a line of production code.

Every engagement starts with a fit call. Thirty minutes. You describe the situation, Chris tells you whether Kingbird is the right shop for it and what a starting engagement looks like. No sales theater.
For new builds, we scope a fixed-scope sprint or a managed retainer depending on how defined the work is. For stalled or inherited projects, we start with a Stabilization Review: 10 business days, written plan, $2,500 flat.
All code ships to your repo. You own the deploy pipeline. We write the runbook as we go. Nothing is locked to Kingbird when the engagement ends.
We work across Orange County from Irvine and Santa Ana out to Anaheim, Newport Beach, Costa Mesa, Huntington Beach, Tustin, and Fullerton, and we run the same shape of engagement out of Phoenix. Remote-first, US-led, and in your time zone either way.
Common questions
- Do you have an office in Orange County?
- No. Kingbird is US-led and remote-first, and we run Orange County projects the same way we run every project: one named senior US operator, working in your time zone and accountable start to finish.
- What kind of software do you build for Orange County businesses?
- New SaaS builds and MVPs, internal tools, AI integrations and agentic workflows, systems integration across your CRM and operations stack, and recovery of stalled projects another developer or agency left unfinished.
- Do you build SaaS products, or only internal software?
- Both. A multi-tenant SaaS product is a different build from an internal tool: it needs tenancy and roles decided early, billing and subscription state that survives edge cases, and a deploy pipeline your team can run without us. We scope those decisions in the first sprint rather than discovering them in month six.
- Can you do the architecture work without building the whole thing?
- Yes. Some engagements are architecture only: data model, service boundaries, integration design, build-versus-buy calls, and a written plan your existing team executes. That is also the right shape when you have developers already and need a senior second opinion before committing budget.
- Do you do AI and machine learning work, or just AI integrations?
- Mostly integration and applied work: LLM-powered features, retrieval over your own documents, agentic automations, and putting a model behind a workflow that used to be manual. We do not train foundation models. If your problem genuinely needs custom model training, we will tell you that on the fit call rather than take the project.
- Can you build operating dashboards and reporting?
- Yes. Operating dashboards are one of our standing products: pulling from the systems you already run and putting the numbers your team actually decides on in one place. See Operating Dashboards for what that includes.
- What makes Kingbird different from other Orange County software shops?
- One named senior operator on every engagement, accountable end to end. Engineering is matched to your stack and budget. When the engagement ends the code is in your repo, the runbook is written, and you own the IP outright.
- Can you take over a project a previous developer started?
- Yes. Takeovers are a primary engagement shape. We inherit the repo, read what is broken, and ship. The Stabilization Review is a ten-business-day diagnostic with a written 30/60/90 plan, $2,500 flat.
- Where do I start if I am not sure what I need built?
- Book a 30-minute fit call. You describe the situation, Chris tells you whether Kingbird is the right shop and what a starting engagement looks like. No slide deck, no prep required.
- Do you build websites for Orange County businesses, or only custom software?
- Both. Alongside custom software, we build modern local-business websites from $2,500 with AI built in, and we implement AI and train your staff. See Local Business Websites and AI Adoption & Staff Training.
